A tragic incident unfolded in east London as a woman lost her life and two others sustained injuries in a shooting, according to British police reports on Tuesday.

The Metropolitan Police force responded to reports of a shooting in Hackney, a neighborhood in east London, where they discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds.

Tragically, a 42-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities have initiated a murder investigation, and detectives are diligently working to piece together the details of the incident.

No arrests have been made at this time, and further information remains forthcoming.

Detective Superintendent Vicky Tunstall expressed her shock at the event and acknowledged the community’s desire for answers.

Gun-related incidents are uncommon in London and the United Kingdom.

“Gun crime has no place on the streets of London and we will do all we can to bring whoever is responsible for this despicable crime to justice,” she stated.

Police officers will continue to be present at the scene in the following days as the investigation unfolds.
