The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reaffirmed its staunch opposition to the Israeli occupation forces’ plans for the forced displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.

This announcement was made on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Ibrahim Hussein Taha, the Secretary-General of the OIC, emphasized the serious implications of the ongoing Israeli assaults on sacred sites in occupied Jerusalem, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He reiterated that Jerusalem is an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967. Taha stressed the importance of maintaining the legal and historical status of the holy sites in Jerusalem and rejected any illegal actions aimed at altering the city’s geographical and demographic status and isolating it from its Palestinian surroundings.

Taha also highlighted the current situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip, which is experiencing unprecedented Israeli military aggression.

This aggression has led to the martyrdom and injury of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, and has displaced hundreds of thousands of families.

The deliberate destruction of homes, hospitals, places of worship, schools, and infrastructure is a blatant violation of international law and relevant United Nations (UN) resolutions.

He called on the international community to take responsibility for immediately and completely stopping this aggression, considering it a war crime and a crime against humanity.

Taha stressed the necessity of ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid and basic necessities to the Gaza Strip and providing international protection for the Palestinian people.

Taha pointed out that the absence of justice and international legitimacy, along with the double standards prevalent, have encouraged Israel, as the occupying power, to continue its crimes and evade punishment. This situation has prolonged the conflict, undermining international security and peace.
