The Israeli army is reportedly teetering on the edge of a major crisis, with a growing number of soldiers deserting from the front lines, reaching a total of 2,000 according to recent reports in the Israeli media.

Sources suggest that the desertion rate is steadily increasing, causing alarm within the government. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have responded by announcing stringent penalties for soldiers abandoning their posts during the ongoing attacks on Gaza.

In response to the escalating situation, the government has opted to introduce strict laws to address the rising number of soldiers unwilling to serve on the front lines. The IDF military prosecution will now directly enforce prison sentences for those who desert.

Facing a critical shortage of troops due to the surge in desertions, military authorities are urgently calling on soldiers who refuse deployment to report to their units before the strict penalty policy takes effect. The message is clear: “Report to your units urgently before the strict penalty policy takes effect. Surrendering individuals will be given a new opportunity.”

In an attempt to mitigate the crisis, occupation forces are actively engaging in efforts to persuade deserters to return voluntarily before the implementation of the harsh penalty policy. The situation highlights a pressing concern for the Israeli military as it grapples with internal challenges amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
