A convoy of ten lorries, laden with 252 tonnes of aid, has departed from Al Arish in Egypt, bound for the Rafah crossing, as part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts to provide support to Gaza.
The convoy includes 16,800 food parcels, benefiting approximately 84,000 people, along with three lorries carrying tents for distribution in the strip.
Dubbed Operation Gallant Knight 3, this humanitarian initiative is under the direct directive of President Sheikh Mohamed, and the distribution of supplies in Gaza will be conducted under Emirati supervision.
This comes as the UAE remains committed to sending relief to Gaza amid the ongoing conflict with Israel, with 49 aircraft having been dispatched carrying essential supplies thus far.
In a recent announcement, the UAE revealed plans to construct three desalination plants in Gaza, each boasting a daily production capacity of 200,000 gallons. Once operational, these plants will provide drinking water to 300,000 people in the region.
The Joint Operations Command at the Ministry of Defence confirmed that the desalination plants are currently under construction in Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip.
