Yousif Ezzat, the advisor to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has categorically denied the rumors circulating on social media about the withdrawal of the RSF to the outskirts of Khartoum, the Sudanese capital.

In a recent tweet on platform X, Ezzat dismissed these reports as baseless and not grounded in any agreement previously signed by the RSF

Ezzat, in his statement, suggested that the spread of such rumors on the internet reflects a state of defeat experienced by Burhan and his associates. He emphasized that these online speculations do not align with reality.

Moreover, Ezzat called upon the army to adhere to the commitments made in the most recent negotiation round held in Jeddah.

These commitments include trust-building measures and a transition to serious negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing wars for the benefit of the Sudanese people, who have long suffered the consequences of these conflicts.

The denial by the advisor comes amid heightened tensions and a complex political landscape in Sudan, where social media often plays a pivotal role in information dissemination.

The clarification aims to dispel any misinformation and reassure the public about the stability and security within the nation’s capital.

Former Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra has been appointed as the Personal Envoy of United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to Sudan.

This appointment follows the resignation of the previous envoy, German diplomat Volker Perthes, in September.

Lamamra, an experienced diplomat, served as Algeria’s Foreign Minister from 2013 to 2017 and again from 2021 to 2023. His diplomatic career also includes a tenure as the United Nations Envoy to Liberia from 2003 to 2007 and as Algeria’s Ambassador to the United Nations from 1993 to 1996.
