Gaza’s health ministry reported a staggering death toll on Saturday, revealing that over 12,300 people have lost their lives due to Israeli airstrikes in the Palestinian territory since hostilities commenced on October 7.

The Hamas government stated that among the casualties are more than 5,000 children and 3,300 women, with an additional 30,000 individuals sustaining injuries.

The intense fighting has made it challenging to recover bodies, leading to the health ministry’s inability to provide precise figures.

As Israel’s war on Gaza reaches its 43rd day, the number of Palestinians killed continues to climb, prompting concerns from the international community.

According to UN figures, six weeks of relentless fighting have displaced approximately 1.6 million people within the Gaza Strip.

Expressing his dismay, UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths condemned the “tragic news of the children, women, and men killed” in the conflict.

The humanitarian crisis is escalating, with hundreds of people forced to flee on foot after the Israeli army ordered the evacuation of Gaza’s main hospital, where around 2,000 people were trapped.

The situation remains dire, emphasizing the urgent need for international intervention to address the growing humanitarian catastrophe in the region.
