Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has issued several presidential decrees, including the dismissal of key officials, notably the army auditor.
These decisions were published in the latest issue of the official gazette, as reported by the Algerian newspaper El Nahar on Thursday.
The presidential decrees notably include the termination of duties for Kamal Sidi Said, who served in a mission at the Presidency, and his reassignment to another position. Most notably, Oujani Mustapha, the General Inspector of the Army, was relieved from his duties, with Haj Bouselja appointed as his successor.
Additionally, the decrees encompassed the dismissal of Ali Sundid, tasked with studies and summarization at the Ministry of Finance, who has been reassigned. The decrees also ended the tenure of Khaled Hassani, the Secretary-General of the Constitutional Court.
These changes follow President Tebboune’s recent decision to appoint Nadir Larbaoui as the new Prime Minister, replacing Ayman Ben Abdel Rahman. Boualam Boualam, the advisor to the Presidency in charge of legal affairs and investigations, was also named as the interim Director of the President’s Office.
This reshuffle comes after Algerian MP Ali Rebige’s predictions of imminent government changes. Rebige had anticipated modifications, particularly involving ministers who had underperformed in their economic or foreign duties.
He noted that President Tebboune aims to enter the second phase of his economic plan, which is associated with his potential second presidential term.
The sweeping changes in the Algerian government underscore President Tebboune’s commitment to refreshing the administration, possibly signaling a new direction in the country’s governance, particularly in its economic and military sectors.
This reshuffle reflects a significant shift in the Algerian political landscape, hinting at broader reforms and strategic redirections under President Tebboune’s leadership.
