The Kazakhstani Ministry of Emergencies has reported a rise in the death toll resulting from the incident at the Kostinko mine in Karaganda, now totaling 28 individuals.

Earlier today, the press office of “ArcelorMittal Temirtau,” a company in Kazakhstan, announced the tragic deaths of 21 people, with 18 others transported to hospitals, while 23 individuals remain missing.

The company’s statement indicated that there were 252 people in the mine at the time of the incident, which is preliminarily attributed to a methane gas explosion.

In response to this devastating event, Kazakhstani authorities have declared a national day of mourning for tomorrow, Sunday.

A government committee, led by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, has been formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Kazakhstan’s President’s media office, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, has confirmed the establishment of a government committee to investigate the incident, as reported by the Russian news agency Sputnik.

The tragic loss of lives in this mining accident underscores the importance of ensuring safety measures in industrial environments.

Investigations will be crucial in determining the causes of the explosion and implementing preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims during this difficult time, and the nation mourns the lives lost in this devastating incident.
