The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has boldly announced its successful targeting of a United States military base in Al-Tanf, Syria, utilizing two unmanned aerial vehicles that achieved direct hits. This information was released in a statement by the group in the early hours of Saturday.

Prior to this declaration, Al-Mayadein TV channel reported, citing its sources, that explosions were heard at the Omar oil field base in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor and the Kharrab Al-Jeer airport in the countryside of Al-Hasakah in eastern Syria.
This signifies a continuation of the increasing and frequent attacks targeting American presence in Syria, which have recently seen a spike in rocket and drone attacks on U.S. facilities in both Iraq and Syria. Washington has consistently blamed groups supported by Iran for these attacks.

Adding to the situation, Hezbollah in Iraq announced last Monday that it had targeted two U.S. military bases in Syria, achieving direct hits on the targets. In recent days, military bases housing U.S. forces, including the Harir base in Erbil and the Ain Al-Assad base in Anbar, have been subjected to drone and rocket attacks.

White House Strategic Communications Coordinator, John Kirby, confirmed on Friday that Washington is currently evaluating the consequences of the strikes aimed at “hostile targets” in Syria. He emphasized America’s readiness to launch further attacks without hesitation. During a press conference, Kirby stated, “The United States is assessing the consequences of the strikes it carries out on hostile targets in Syria,” adding, “and is prepared to launch new attacks without hesitation.”

The region has seen a noticeable increase in tensions and military confrontations in recent times, with various groups deploying different methods, including unmanned aerial vehicles, to target U.S. military installations. This particular strike in Al-Tanf holds significance due to its direct impact, showcasing the capabilities of the Islamic Resistance. It adds to the complexity of the situation in the Middle East, where the U.S. has maintained a military presence for years, often drawing criticism and opposition from local factions and international players. The continuous targeting of U.S. bases not only heightens the security concerns for American forces but also poses serious questions regarding the future of U.S. military involvement in the region. This latest development is a clear indication that groups opposed to the American presence are becoming increasingly bold and capable in their operations.
