In a recent development, the Ambassador Majed Abdel Fattah, Chief of the Arab League mission to the United Nations, pointed out Israel’s maneuvers that appear aimed at enticing Egypt into a military conflict.

Speaking over the phone on the show “Yahdoth fi Masr” broadcasted by “MBC Egypt”, Abdel Fattah commented on the recent remarks by US President Joe Biden, who seemingly placed the responsibility on Egypt regarding the allowance of humanitarian aid to residents of southern Gaza Strip, sidelining others. He emphasized the heightened tensions due to the United States’ negligence towards the peace process in the Middle East.

Furthermore, Abdel Fattah emphasized the demand for an international investigation into the bombing of Al-Mamadani hospital. He noted the palpable frustration among the Security Council members, particularly from the Arab and Islamic nations.

Asserting that “Israel is attempting to neutralize Hamas with unilateral intent and American backing”, Abdel Fattah made it clear that the way some members of the United Nations perceive and empathize with the Palestinian issue differs starkly from their stance on matters like Ukraine.

Furthermore, US President Joe Biden announced that his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, has agreed to open the Rafah border crossing with Gaza to permit the entry of an initial fleet of humanitarian aid trucks into the besieged strip. Speaking to journalists after his phone call with the Egyptian president while en route from a visit to Israel, Biden mentioned, “El-Sisi has agreed to allow up to 20 trucks initially.”

The Middle East has long been a hotbed for political tensions and conflicts, with the Israeli-Palestinian issue at its epicenter. The recent developments spotlight the ever-increasing intricacies of international diplomacy, with Egypt positioned as a critical player in regional stability.
