In a significant operation, the Iraqi Joint Operations Command announced the successful arrest of five members associated with the terrorist organization ISIS in Nineveh Governorate, situated approximately 405 kilometers north of Baghdad.

According to a statement released by the security command, intelligence units specializing in counter-terrorism in Nineveh carried out the operation based on precise information.

The arrestees were apprehended in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of anti-terrorism measures in one of the governorate’s areas.

The security command revealed that, during preliminary investigations, the detained individuals confessed to their allegiance with ISIS and acknowledged receiving financial remuneration for their association. The statement further outlined that all accused terrorists would be handed over to the appropriate judicial authorities, ensuring they face due punishment in accordance with Iraqi law.

It is noteworthy that security forces in Baghdad and other provinces routinely conduct raids and inspection campaigns to track down individuals wanted by the judiciary on charges related to both criminal and terrorist activities. The recent operation in Nineveh highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain security and combat terrorism in the region.
