Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, has dispatched an urgent letter to António Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General, demanding his political and moral influence to avert a new war crime Israel is reportedly plotting as part of its contentious bloodstained campaign against the Gaza Strip.

The urgent plea revolves around Israel’s call for the complete immediate relocation of the residents from the northern to the southern Gaza Strip.

Jamal Rashdi, spokesperson for the Secretary-General, emphasized Aboul Gheit’s point in the letter that “this new crime exceeds all reasonable limits and will lead to boundless suffering for our Palestinian brothers residing in the Strip.”

This, he stated, is in addition to being a blatant and shocking violation of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits the occupying force from direct forced transfer (transfer) of the population or deportation of any of the protected persons in the territory under occupation.

The Arab League’s Secretary-General underscored that “what Israel is conducting is not a meticulously planned or studied military operation to eradicate the roots of the organizations responsible for attacks against it.

Rather, it is a heinous retaliatory act using harsh military force to punish civilians and residents, who are powerless in the Gaza Strip, by indiscriminately targeting them without any distinction.”

In concluding his letter, Aboul Gheit appealed to Guterres and, through him, to the member countries in the Security Council, to “condemn this insane Israeli endeavor of population transfer firmly and clearly, and work diligently with all influential parties to halt its implementation.”

He affirmed that permitting this frantic policy to proceed would eternally symbolize a disgrace on the international community’s brow and stressed that the situation necessitates adherence to the correct moral compass.
