The German Air Force is set to dispatch fighter jets and troops to Jordan for a long-planned joint military training exercise.

According to sources within Berlin’s security circles, this deployment will see German fighter jets and troops participating in a trilateral training operation named “Desert Air” alongside their Jordanian and American counterparts.

These sources further revealed that six Eurofighter jets and approximately 80 soldiers from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are scheduled to depart for the Jordanian Al-Azraq Air Base the day after tomorrow.

The primary objective of this training mission is the shared exchange of aviation expertise within the region.

The German fighter jets will take off from Laage, a town in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in northern Germany. The U.S. Air Force will contribute its F-15A fighters from Lakenheath, England, and F-16 fighters from Aviano, Italy.

The training is expected to continue until the 24th of October and is not a direct response to recent attacks launched by Hamas against Israel.

This marks the first-time involvement of the German military’s Eurofighter jets in such a training exercise, signifying an expanded military presence for Germany in the Middle East.

The Middle East remains a region of strategic significance, marked by ongoing conflicts and security challenges. Military cooperation and training exercises like “Desert Air” contribute to building partnerships and improving the collective capabilities of participating nations to respond effectively to evolving security threats.
