Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his return flight from the Azerbaijani region of Nakhchivan, stated that Turkey intends to collaborate with Israel in the exploration of gas in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
Erdogan also revealed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might visit Turkey in either October or November.
Highlighting the planned partnership with Israel for gas exploration in the Eastern Mediterranean, Erdogan confirmed that the specifics of exploration sites and methodologies will be determined in upcoming meetings between Turkish and Israeli representatives.
In addition, Erdogan emphasized the importance of recognizing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, viewing it as the best route to establish stability and peace in the region.
On another note, Erdogan stressed that Turkey is making significant efforts to open the Zangezur corridor (linking Azerbaijan, the Nakhchivan region, and Turkey, passing through Armenian territories) as soon as possible. He expressed significant optimism due to positive signals from Iran regarding the opening of the Zangezur corridor.
Regarding Turkey’s relationship with the United States, Erdogan commented: “We are currently awaiting a clear stance and response from the US side concerning the sale of F-16 aircraft to Turkey. I tell the American side, just as you have your Congress, we have our parliament too.”
Domestically, Erdogan highlighted the need for Turkey to move away from its military coup-era constitution, expressing hope for reaching a consensus on the new constitution they’ve prepared.
