In the aftermath of the “Daniel” hurricane, the UAE has stepped up its commitment to international aid. Assistant Foreign Minister of the UAE, Sultan Al Shamsi, announced on Monday that the country has provided 622 tons of relief aid to Libya since the initiation of the UAE’s airlift on September 12th.
This gesture aims to alleviate the effects and repercussions of the devastating hurricane.
According to the UAE’s official news agency, “WAM”, Al Shamsi elaborated that 28 aircraft have been employed to transport humanitarian and relief aid, benefiting approximately 6,386 families in Libya. The assistance encompassed food items, shelter materials, health packages, and essential first aid supplies.
These aids were particularly distributed in areas most affected by the calamity. Furthermore, specialized search and rescue teams, equipped with modern machinery and tools, were dispatched to support challenging tasks on the ground.
Al Shamsi emphasized that the UAE’s airlift to Libya remains ongoing. The on-ground team of the Emirates Red Crescent is continually assessing field conditions, analyzing current genuine needs, ensuring more provisions are sent via the air bridge.
Additionally, the UAE has deployed search and rescue teams to the disaster-stricken areas, fully equipped with helicopters, drones, specialized rescue vehicles, generators, and other multifunctional devices. On the previous Thursday, the UAE’s “DVI” team, which specializes in identifying victims of disasters, also arrived in Libya.
