The UAE emphasized its support for initiating a “serious dialogue” to cease hostilities and reach a sustainable political resolution to the Yemeni crisis.

Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the head of the UAE state, made the remarks during his meeting with the United Nations (UN) special envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg.

The agency highlighted that Gargash and Grundberg discussed the “latest developments in the Yemeni crisis and efforts to create the right conditions for a ceasefire.

They touched upon ways to reach a sustainable political solution that concludes the ongoing crisis and the human suffering experienced by the Yemeni people.”

Gargash underscored the UAE’s support for international endeavors and the efforts made by the UN envoy to find a mechanism for a permanent cessation of hostilities.

He also lauded the commencement of earnest dialogue to reach a sustainable political resolution to the Yemeni conflict.

Gargash appreciated the “substantial efforts undertaken by Saudi Arabia,” pointing to his country’s alignment with “the Yemeni people and supporting all initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis, with its political and humanitarian implications.”

Moreover, Gargash welcomed the UN‘s recent announcement regarding the completion plan to empty the oil storage of the floating tanker “Safer” off the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea.

He lauded the UN’s efforts, its Secretary-General, and the support provided by the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen and the donor countries in facilitating the successful emptying operations of the floating oil storage to avoid an environmental and humanitarian disaster.

The UN envoy reviewed the latest developments in the Yemeni file with international, regional, and local parties and detailed the endeavors being made in this context.
