Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, stated that Ukraine can now target locations within Russian territory up to 1,500 kilometers away. The remarks were reported by the German news agency, citing Ukrainian radio.
According to Danilov, targeting distant locations no longer presents a difficulty for Ukraine, given the country’s ongoing improvements to its missile and drone programs. He also mentioned that the missiles deployed against Russian military objectives originate from Ukraine. This comes amid Ukraine’s efforts to resist Kremlin forces in a conflict that has been going on for over 18 months.
Danilov discussed Ukraine’s missile program, in development since 2020, and indicated that many companies are participating in the production of drones. In a broadcast last Friday, he said, “All of this will yield results.”
While noting that the Ukrainian armed forces are capable of hitting targets not only 700 kilometers away but also “up to 1,000 and 1,500 kilometers,” Danilov emphasized that Ukraine only targets military objectives.
The statements come as Russia faces an escalating wave of drone attacks on Moscow and other parts of the country, in retaliatory strikes for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
