On Thursday, a fire broke out in the city of Johannesburg, resulting in the death of at least 20 people.

The incident was reported by Sky News Arabia on Thursday, highlighting the devastating loss of life in this unfortunate event.

The fire, which erupted in Johannesburg, has sent shockwaves throughout the local community and beyond.

Authorities are currently working diligently to determine the cause of the fire and to provide support to those affected by this heartbreaking incident.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be ascertained.

An AFP reporter at the scene said emergency services were continuing to bring charred bodies out of the building, laying them down under blankets and sheets on the street outside.

Illegal occupation of disused buildings in the city centre is widespread, with many said to be under the control of criminal syndicates who collect rent from occupants.
