Putin: We Will Not Allow Enemies to Destabilize Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that his authorities will preserve the internal political security in the, particularly so at a time when ill-wishers have stepped up their activity.

Putin’s remarks came during at a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council on Friday.

The president proposed discussing “ways of ensuring Russia’s security, in this case, internal political security,” taking into account the efforts being taken and stepped up by ill-wishers with the aim “to shake loose the situation inside Russia.”

“We must do everything to prevent them from doing this under any circumstances,” Putin affirmed.

He underlined that these issues are extremely important for Russia, as it includes 190 ethnic groups.

In the same vein, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov Russia-US talks on strategic security are necessary. However, there are no plans to hold them at the moment.

“So far there are no plans in this regard, although there definitely should be,” Peskov replied to a question whether it was possible to start negotiations with the US on strategic security in the current circumstances.
