The Israeli Army announced on Friday that 695 soldiers have been killed since the start of its military campaign in Gaza on October 7, 2023. According to the data released on the Israeli army’s official website, 332 of these deaths occurred during the ground battles that began on October 27, 2023.

In addition to the fatalities, the army reported that 4,357 soldiers have been injured, with 2,232 of those injuries sustained during the ground operations in Gaza. Among the injured, 21 soldiers are currently in serious condition, 169 are in moderate condition, and three are in mild condition.

Israeli officials have described the ongoing battles as intense and costly, with continuous reports from Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, claiming daily attacks on Israeli soldiers within Gaza.

The Israeli offensive on Gaza has persisted following a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire. The conflict has led to over 40,200 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, and more than 93,000 injuries, according to local health authorities.

Gaza remains under severe blockade, facing critical shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies, as much of the region lies in ruins. Israel is currently facing accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered a halt to military operations in Rafah, where over one million Palestinians had sought refuge before the invasion of the area on May 6.
