The United Nations announced on Friday the release of five of its security personnel who had been kidnapped in Yemen 18 months ago.

Farhan Haq, the Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations, stated in a release that the Secretary-General, António Guterres, welcomed the liberation of the security personnel. Guterres reiterated that kidnapping is an inhumane and unjustifiable crime and called for the culprits to be held accountable.

The United Nations did not specify who was responsible for the abduction of the five security men.
