The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas resistance movement, stated that their members engaged in a clash with an Israeli special force using hand grenades and machine guns at dawn on Monday.
In a brief statement through their official Telegram channel on Tuesday, they confirmed the killing of 3 Israeli soldiers in the Canada area of Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, west of Rafah city.
Earlier, Al-Qassam reported targeting an entrenched Israeli force inside a house with a TBG projectile next to the Qadisiyah School.
They also targeted another Israeli force fortified inside a house with a TBG projectile and an anti-personnel shell in the western camp of Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, west of Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, they mentioned that their elements managed to target a Merkava tank with a ‘Yasin 105’ projectile next to the Al-Quds Open University in Tal al-Sultan neighborhood.
The Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, have been significantly active since the war on Gaza began in October 2023. They launched a coordinated attack named “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood,” marking one of the most intense operations since Hamas took control of Gaza. This operation included a barrage of missiles and incursions into Israeli territory, which was unprecedented in its scale since the Arab-Israeli War of 1948. The attacks resulted in considerable casualties and were followed by severe retaliatory actions by Israel.
Hamas described this large-scale assault as a response to ongoing issues such as the Israeli occupation, the blockade of Gaza, settlement expansions, and escalating violence by Israeli settlers. The operation’s impact was profound, leading to a substantial loss of life and extensive damage, heightening tensions significantly in the region.
