In a tragic incident on Friday, a collision between two trains in Java, Indonesia, resulted in the loss of three lives and left at least 28 individuals injured.

spokesperson for the provincial police Ibrahim Tumbo reported that the accident occurred at 6:30 AM local time near rice fields in Cicalengka, West Java Province.

The collision caused several train carriages to overturn.

Videos circulated online depict overturned or severely damaged train carriages, with one carriage seen off-track and amidst rice fields.

Terrified passengers attempted to exit the train, while some made their way through the fields, carrying their belongings. Ambulances were swiftly dispatched to evacuate the injured.

Train accidents are unfortunately common within Indonesia’s aging railway network, particularly at crossings.
