Local authorities in the Azilal province, Morocco, have reported that 24 individuals tragically lost their lives in a road accident on Sunday. The mishap occurred on an unclassified road linking the regional highway No. 302 and the city of Demnate, specifically near the Akhshan roundabout in the Sidi Boulkhalf commune.

Officials explained that the catastrophe unfolded when a dual-transport vehicle overturned at one of the bends, carrying several passengers headed towards the weekly market in the city of Demnate.

Upon being alerted to the accident, local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Civil Protection swiftly mobilized to the scene to initiate rescue operations.

The Royal Gendarmerie, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, has since launched an inquiry to uncover the circumstances surrounding this devastating event.
