The American police stated that two individuals were killed and five others injured in a shooting incident in the nation’s capital, Washington D.C., early this morning (Sunday).

The gunfire was reported around 3 a.m. local time near the Kennedy Entertainment Center, according to the Washington D.C. police department, as reported by CNN.

Jeffrey Carroll, assistant chief of the D.C. police, said in a press conference that the victims – all adults – were transported to local hospitals. Detailed information about their conditions is not available at the moment.

It remains unclear who fired the shots or what led to the gunfire, which occurred about ten blocks northeast of the White House.

The police have not announced any arrests or named any suspects in the incident.

Carroll stated that he asks anyone with any information related to this incident or who may have witnessed it to contact the D.C. Police Department.
