Two Israeli soldiers were killed, and several others injured on Saturday in an ambush carried out by Palestinian resistance forces in the city of Gaza.
According to the Hebrew site “Hadashot Bzman,” a “serious security incident” occurred on Saturday in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and injuries to nine others, one of whom is in critical condition, following the detonation of an explosive device during battles in Gaza, as reported by the Palestinian news agency “Sanad.”
In a statement, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that its fighters successfully detonated two anti-personnel explosive devices targeting two Israeli military jeeps near the University College in Tel al-Hawa, south of Gaza City.
The Brigades added that their fighters engaged the remaining soldiers with machine guns, inflicting additional casualties, while observing Israeli helicopter evacuations of the dead and wounded.
In a separate development, the Al-Qassam Brigades released footage showing their targeting of Israeli military concentrations east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
The resistance factions continued to repel Israeli incursions across various fronts in the Gaza Strip, while also launching attacks on Israeli military positions and troop gatherings.
On Saturday, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, reported intense clashes with Israeli forces advancing east of the Qarara area in northern Khan Younis.
In a separate statement, the Al-Quds Brigades claimed responsibility for launching a rocket barrage at the Israeli military base “Re’im.”
Later, the Al-Quds Brigades announced: “We detonated a highly explosive ground bomb, pre-planted, targeting an advancing Israeli military vehicle near Aliyeen Mosque in the Zaytoun neighbourhood, southeast of Gaza City.”
Meanwhile, the Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades launched two 107mm rockets at an Israeli command and control site in the “Netzarim” area.
Additionally, the Omar al-Qassem Forces reported a direct hit on an Israeli bulldozer in the Saudi neighbourhood west of Rafah City, using an RPG round.
