Palestinian emergency teams have uncovered the remains of 180 individuals in a mass grave located at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, a city in southern Gaza, as reported by Al Jazeera.
The discovered bodies, which include elderly women and children, were found in the hospital’s courtyard over the recent weekend.
On April 7, following the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the city, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the Israel Defense Forces had dismantled Hamas as a military entity in Khan Yunis.
Israeli war resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 individuals and the abduction of about 240 others.
According to local authorities, Israeli airstrikes have resulted in over 34,000 fatalities in the Gaza Strip so far.
Amidst a backdrop of escalating violence and restrictions, children in Gaza are enduring one of the world’s gravest humanitarian crises, according to Ammar Ammar, UNICEF’s spokesperson for the Middle East and North Africa.
In an interview with Al-Ittihad, Ammar painted a harrowing picture of the life-threatening challenges facing Gaza’s youngest residents.
Ammar reported that Gaza is home to approximately 1.7 million displaced individuals, half of whom are children living under critically inhumane conditions.
These conditions include a severe shortage of potable water, with individuals receiving merely 1 to 2 litres per day for all domestic uses—far below the international survival standards.
