The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced today, Saturday, that the number of victims from the Israeli war, including martyrs, injured, and missing individuals, has reached approximately 110,000 so far. It was explained that 90% of the sector’s citizens have become displaced.
The office stated in a press release that the direct losses due to the Israeli war to date exceed 30 billion dollars, with damages including homes, facilities, and infrastructure such as road networks, electricity, water, and sewage. 80% of the homes in Gaza and North Gaza provinces have become uninhabitable.
The office also mentioned that the Gaza Strip is experiencing an Israeli war of starvation, with 120,000 families suffering from a real famine in the northern part of the sector. No aid has been allowed in, and the occupation has deliberately done so as part of a policy of ethnic cleansing.
Regarding humanitarian aid, the office stated, “The aid that has been air-dropped is insufficient, and the occupation obstructs the entry of aid. It is necessary to activate the operation of the Gaza Strip’s crossings. The occupation deliberately wages a war of starvation as part of its total war on the sector. With the looming famine in northern Gaza Strip, any effort could potentially save the lives of the people.”
The situation in Gaza following the outbreak of war on October 7 has been marked by significant human and infrastructural losses. The health sector in Gaza is particularly strained, with the World Health Organization documenting 111 attacks on healthcare facilities, resulting in the deaths of 12 health workers and direct damage to 24 health facilities, including six hospitals. The health care system, already fragile due to years of occupation, is overwhelmed, with hospitals operating beyond capacity and facing shortages of beds. There’s also a rising concern over the spread of epidemics, as hospitals are crowded and cases of smallpox among children have been reported.
The conflict has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, with over 15,900 Palestinians reported killed since October 7, including 250 health workers. The Palestinian Health Minister highlighted the increasing toll and the potential collapse of the health sector due to continuous bombardments. She emphasized that many bodies remain under the rubble, making the actual death toll likely higher. The Israeli military has expanded its ground campaign in Gaza, and there have been reports of health facilities and hospitals being targeted.
The war has also had a profound impact on the US, with the FBI noting concerns about violent extremists within the country being inspired by the events in the Middle East. The agency highlighted potential risks to the Jewish and Muslim communities in the US and stressed the absence of an imminent threat from a foreign terrorist organization
