Activists and local media sources have reported that six Syrian asylum seekers died after their boat sank off the coast of Algeria during their attempt to head to Europe.
The sources added that a boat carrying 11 Syrians, including women and children from the city of Ain Al-Arab in the north of the country, sank on Friday, indicating that the other passengers are missing.
Recently, similar incidents have been witnessed, the most notable of which was the sinking of a boat carrying 750 migrants, including Syrians, off the Greek coast, amid allegations of the involvement of the Greek coast guard in the sinking of the boat.
