A source from the Syrian police reported an explosion in the Shalan district in central Damascus on Wednesday evening, indicating that the blast resulted in one fatality. Authorities are actively investigating the incident.

According to the source speaking to Sputnik, “A person was killed in an explosion in the Shalan district in central Damascus, with the causes of the explosion still unknown at this time.” Investigations are underway to determine the nature of the blast.

The source did not disclose further details about the incident.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted a source from the Damascus Police Command as saying, “Preliminary information suggests that a bomb explosion, which was in the possession of an individual, led to his death near the Shalan district.”

The exact circumstances surrounding the explosion remain unclear as authorities continue their investigations into the incident.

Damascus, the capital of Syria, has been marred by conflict and instability in recent years due to the ongoing civil war. While the city has seen periods of relative calm, sporadic incidents of violence continue to disrupt the lives of its residents.

The Shalan district, located in central Damascus, has not been immune to such incidents, experiencing occasional security threats and explosions.
