The Philippine authorities have announced the death of at least one person due to Typhoon “Doksuri,” which struck northern Philippines, uprooting trees and causing power outages.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, the typhoon was accompanied by winds reaching speeds of 175 kilometers per hour (about 109 miles per hour).
The news was reported by the Filipino network “ABS-CBN” on Wednesday.
In response to the storm, authorities have ordered residents in coastal communities to evacuate their homes, and fishermen were asked to bring their boats ashore.
Police personnel have been deployed to persuade those who resist complying with the evacuation orders.
Numerous domestic flights have been canceled, as the typhoon is expected to slightly weaken as it exits the Philippines on Thursday.
It is projected to pass through the Taiwan Strait and make landfall near Fujian, China, on the following Friday.
