YouTube has introduced several new updates for mobile users, including features like stable volume and a song search capability that allows users to hum or sing to find songs. This functionality is now being extended to YouTube Music.

For users on Android, accessing the song search feature on YouTube involves launching the search function and selecting the new “Song” tab instead of “Voice.”

Similar to the “Hum to Search” feature in Google Search, users can play, sing, or hum to find songs, with YouTube employing AI to match the sound to the original recording.

This functionality is also being integrated into YouTube Music. Users can access it by tapping the search icon, with a dedicated button for song search placed next to the voice search option, providing slightly faster access.

While some iOS users of YouTube Music already have access to this feature, it’s not yet available on all devices.

Users have expressed a desire for saved finds to be added to a playlist, similar to Spotify‘s functionality, instead of simply displaying search results for the identified song. Google Search has the ability to display matches by percentage.

The addition of song search functionality to YouTube Music is a logical step and harks back to a feature that was previously available on Google Play Music.

Notably, Google Play Music had a prominent “Identify what’s playing” button in its search bar.

Additionally, users can utilize Google Assistant (excluding Gemini), Google Search, and Now Playing on Pixel devices to identify songs.
