The World Food Programme (WFP) has declared that hunger is widespread in the Gaza Strip, with increasing desperation among the population in finding food.
According to WFP monitoring, between 83 and 97% of families are not consuming enough food. In some areas, up to 90% of families reported not having any food for entire days and nights, with 18% experiencing this for more than ten days in the past month.
In another development, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported a significant evacuation of patients and staff from Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabalia by the Gaza Health Ministry.
The hospital has largely ceased operations and is no longer accepting new patients due to intense fighting in the vicinity, compounded by a severe shortage of essential medical supplies, water, fuel, and food.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated that only 14 of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are operational, offering limited services.
This includes two small hospitals in the north and 12 in the south. Dujarric highlighted that 80 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies and 69,000 liters of fuel entered Gaza from Egypt yesterday, a significant decrease from the estimated daily average of 170 trucks and 110,000 liters of fuel during the humanitarian ceasefire from November 24 to 30.
Hamas leader Osama Hamdan, in a press conference, announced that the Israeli aggression has resulted in over 60,000 Palestinian casualties, including deaths, injuries, and missing persons. Hamdan affirmed that the Israeli military had failed to achieve its objectives in Gaza, facing significant losses against the valiant Palestinian resistance.
The Israeli military’s aggression aims to dismantle Hamas and impose its security control over the Gaza Strip.
Efforts to establish a buffer zone in northern Gaza, following the displacement of residents towards the southern part and pressuring them to migrate to Egypt or other countries, are seen as a move to completely eradicate the Palestinian cause.
