A source within Hamas informed “Al Arabiya” that an American proposal will be presented to the Israeli side, containing both positive and negative aspects.
The source added that the American proposal includes facilitating relief operations and the reconstruction of hospitals and bakeries, as well as restoring electricity. Washington has proposed that Israel and Hamas commit to releasing prisoners, children, women, and the elderly.
The American proposal also stipulates a gradual return of the displaced from southern to northern Gaza.
Conversely, the Israeli military accused Hamas of preventing a truce in the Gaza Strip before Ramadan.
The Israeli military spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, stated that the military would continue its operations in Gaza to retrieve the detainees.
In related news, a statement from Israeli intelligence mentioned that efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza are ongoing, despite diminishing hopes for a truce during Ramadan.
The statement added that the head of Mossad, David Barnea, met with his American counterpart, William Burns, to discuss an agreement leading to the release of hostages.
The Israeli military announced its coordination with the American military to establish a temporary floating pier to introduce humanitarian aid into Gaza, emphasizing that the aid would enter the sector after undergoing a full Israeli inspection.
The Wall Street Journal, quoting Hamas leader Husam Badran, reported that Hamas is more eager to stop the war in Gaza, indicating that significant gaps with Israel remain as negotiators prepare to resume truce talks.
Husam Badran, a leader in Hamas, warned that disturbances would escalate in the West Bank and Jerusalem if an agreement is not reached soon.
Gaza has been under continuous Israeli bombardment since Hamas launched an attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing about 1,160 people, mostly civilians, according to official Israeli figures.
About 250 hostages were taken during the attack, with Israel believing that 99 of them are still alive in Gaza.
