US President Joe Biden stated that the US military would carry out an airdrop of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip in the coming days and that Washington would do everything in its power to deliver more aid to the region.

He added that the flow of aid to Gaza is insufficient and that he wants hundreds more aid trucks to enter.

Since October 7, the United States has significantly increased its military support to Israel in response to the Israel-Hamas conflict. The US support has included the deployment of additional military assets such as aircraft carriers, warships, and aircraft to the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East region. Notably, the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group, accompanied by guided missile cruisers and destroyers, was moved closer to Israel. The US also augmented its Air Force presence in the region with advanced fighter jets like F-35s, F-15s, F-16s, and A-10s. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed that the US would provide munitions to Israel, which could include interceptors for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system and precision-guided munitions.

President Biden’s administration has voiced unwavering support for Israel, emphasizing Israel’s right to defend itself and condemning Hamas for the attacks. Despite expressing outrage over specific incidents, such as the strike at the al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, Biden’s statements have largely focused on backing Israel’s security and military needs. This includes a significant display of military support and avoidance of pressing Israel on accountability for the humanitarian impact of its military actions in Gaza.

In terms of financial aid, the US has been preparing an aid package with approximately $2 billion in additional funding to support Israel. This is part of a broader effort by the US to ensure Israel’s security and military supremacy in the region, which aligns with long-standing US policy to maintain Israel’s regional military hegemony. The US House of Representatives approved a plan that allocates $14.5 billion in military aid for Israel, emphasizing the considerable amount of military assistance the US has provided to Israel over the years.
