The Israeli newspaper “Maariv” reported today, Tuesday, that an intelligence report issued by the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that Hamas is continuing its activities and that the war on Gaza will not end in the near future.
The newspaper highlighted the section related to the risks facing Israel in the “Risk Assessment” report, an annual publication by the American intelligence community.
According to the newspaper, the report provided estimates on the future of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government amidst the war, which is expected to continue for many years with no end in sight in the near future.
The section on Israel, prepared by American experts from the FBI within the comprehensive annual report of the American intelligence community, estimated that “the war in the Gaza Strip is far from over in the near future.”
The report’s authors believed that Israel would remain vulnerable to operations by Hamas in the coming years, posing risks and implications that could threaten the stability of Netanyahu’s government.
Maariv cited from the report a point stating, “It is impossible for Israel to completely eradicate Hamas, nor is the Israeli army close to achieving this goal.”
The report discussed the Israeli public’s confidence in Netanyahu’s government and right-wing partners, estimating that this confidence is declining and the crisis of losing trust in Netanyahu and his government is deepening.
Through an analysis of current events and developments, the report anticipated that “major” social protests against Netanyahu’s government, demanding his resignation, will inevitably resume.
Assessing the risks facing Israel, the report concluded that “Netanyahu’s ability to remain in office as Prime Minister, as well as the ruling coalition’s ability to stay in power, is at risk.”
The report noted that “Hamas will continue to (resist) Israel for many years to come” and stated that American focus and involvement would shift from the Israeli arena to the Russian-Ukrainian war scene in the coming period.
The report also addressed the future of escalation between Israel and the “Hezbollah” militia in Lebanon, pointing out that the only scenario that could lead the militia to cease fire is reaching an agreement to end the war in Gaza.
Recent developments in the ongoing war in Gaza highlight the complex and tragic nature of the conflict. The humanitarian situation is dire, with significant loss of life and infrastructure damage resulting from continuous bombardments. The conflict has seen a considerable toll on human life and infrastructure, with thousands of Palestinians being killed, including a significant number of children. The international community, including heads of state and United Nations officials, is actively discussing humanitarian aid for Gaza, with calls for pushing towards a ceasefire. The situation also has broader geopolitical implications, affecting global diplomacy and the relationships between different nations involved directly or indirectly in the conflict.
