The US Army announced on Thursday the destruction of 4 long-range drones launched by the Houthis, without recording any casualties or damages.
The US Central Command stated in a statement regarding its operations, reported by Alhurra TV, that it was able to identify and destroy 4 long-range drones launched by the Houthis in Yemen.
The statement clarified that the drones were targeting an American warship, and in response, the warship acted in self-defense within the Red Sea area.
No injuries or damages to US ships or the coalition have been reported.
The statement concluded by affirming that these measures are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for the US Navy and merchant ships.
The ongoing conflict in Yemen involves various factions, including the Houthi rebels, who have been engaged in a protracted conflict with the internationally recognized government of Yemen, backed by a Saudi-led coalition.
The conflict has resulted in a humanitarian crisis and frequent military confrontations. The Red Sea is a strategic maritime route, vital for global trade, making any security threat in the region of significant concern.
