The foreign ministers of China and the United States conducted telephone talks on Wednesday, discussing the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Both sides agreed on the necessity of de-escalation, according to authorities from both countries.
The US State Department stated that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated the importance of all parties working to prevent the expansion of the conflict.
Meanwhile, Beijing emphasized that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the absolute priority is an immediate ceasefire and ending the war as soon as possible.
The Gaza conflict, between the Israeli military and armed Palestinian factions, continues to witness a new day of escalation and fighting on Wednesday, with the residents of the Gaza Strip enduring a significant humanitarian crisis.
The relentless war enters its second month today, with Israeli airstrikes persisting in the northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, amid intensifying clashes and street warfare between Israeli forces and armed elements within the territory.
In the latest developments, the Palestinian News and Information Agency reported today that dozens were killed and injured in Israeli shelling on Gaza in the early morning.
The agency stated that Israeli forces continued their intensive bombardment on the northern, central, and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, resulting in dozens of casualties, mostly children and women.
The agency also reported that Israeli shelling targeted homes in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, as well as an Israeli airstrike on a house in the western camp of Khan Yunis.
Palestinian media outlets indicated that artillery shelling continued on neighborhoods in Tuffah, Daraj, and Shejaia in Gaza City, as well as on the eastern parts of Khan Yunis, Fakhari, and Abasan.
They also reported that Israeli forces unleashed a barrage of phosphorus and smoke bombs towards the central Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip.
Palestinian media further highlighted that Israel struck a school housing displaced persons in Jabalia in northern Gaza, resulting in a significant number of casualties.
