The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that coalition forces successfully intercepted and destroyed a drone boat and two anti-ship ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi rebels from Yemen.
In a statement, CENTCOM reported, “On March 21, between 8:50 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. (Sanaa time), a coalition aircraft successfully engaged and destroyed an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.” The statement highlighted that the coalition forces also managed to intercept and destroy two ballistic missiles aimed at commercial shipping in the Red Sea, launched by the Iranian-supported Houthi terrorists from their controlled territories in Yemen. There were no casualties or damage reported to either American or coalition naval vessels.
The statement further emphasized the imminent threat posed by these weapons to the coalition and commercial ships in the region. These actions were taken to protect the freedom of navigation and enhance the safety of international waters for both coalition and commercial vessels.
