The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has described last week as the “bloodiest” for Palestinian civilians in the West Bank since November 2023. The agency highlighted in a post on the X platform last night that as the conflict in Gaza persists, violence and destruction are intensifying every hour in the West Bank, a situation it deemed unacceptable and urged to be halted immediately.
UNRWA reported a sharp rise in casualties, stating, “The past week has been the deadliest for Palestinian civilians in the West Bank since last November, with numerous people killed, including seven children.” The Israeli military’s operations in the region have escalated significantly, leading to 691 Palestinian deaths and about 5,700 injuries, with more than 10,400 arrests, according to official Palestinian institutions.
The military escalation by the Israeli forces began on August 28, with what has been described as the most extensive operation in the northern West Bank since 2002. As of last Thursday, official Palestinian figures report that 39 citizens were killed, 150 were injured, and dozens were arrested during this aggression.
