Abdullah al-Dardari, Regional Director for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), stated today, Tuesday, that the cost of rebuilding Gaza Strip amounts to $50 billion.

Al-Dardari added, in a statement to Al Arabiya Al Hadath news channel, that the most critical phase comes after reaching a ceasefire because nearly 2 million homeless individuals await the reconstruction process.

The UN official emphasized the necessity of establishing a mechanism to set up an adequate number of temporary homes ready for occupancy in Gaza immediately after the ceasefire, along with healthcare, education, drinking water, sanitation, and electricity services. He clarified that the early recovery program costs approximately $2 billion, while the total reconstruction of Gaza is estimated at around $50 billion
