On Tuesday, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that its air defense systems destroyed 10 drones launched by Russia overnight.
The drones were targeted at the regions of Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine, as stated on the Air Force’s Telegram channel.
In a related incident, oil depots caught fire following a drone attack early Tuesday in the town of Azov, located in the Rostov region of southern Russia.
Regional Governor Vasily Golubev, via Telegram, indicated that initial reports suggested no injuries.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on Telegram that the fire spread across 5,000 cubic meters and that dozens of firefighters with 21 pieces of equipment were battling the blaze.
The authenticity of these reports has not been independently verified.
Ukraine has not yet commented, but it has previously stated that targeting Russia’s energy, military, and transport infrastructure undermines Moscow’s war efforts.
Azov, situated on the Don River, is approximately 16 kilometres from the Sea of Azov.
Last Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 87 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory during the night.
The Governor of Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, announced that Russian air defenses had repelled a large-scale drone attack in the Rostov region. Initial reports indicated no injuries.
