In an announcement today, Ukrainian Finance Minister, Sergiy Marchenko, revealed that over $42 billion in international aid has flowed into Ukraine’s budget this year.
This substantial influx of funds marks a significant achievement in attracting international assistance, as Marchenko stated in his remarks to the Ukrainian edition of Forbes on YouTube.
“We are closing the budget year with very significant accomplishments in terms of securing international aid. So far, we have succeeded in securing over $42 billion in international assistance to cover the budget’s needs,” Marchenko stated.
Earlier, Ukrainian parliamentarian Alexandra Ostynova had noted that budget deficits were being bridged with Western funding. If aid from the United States were to cease, authorities might be compelled to seek help from the Group of Seven (G7) countries.
At the end of November, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law concerning Ukraine’s state budget for 2024, which projected a deficit exceeding $43 billion.
This influx of international aid is expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing Ukraine’s economy and ensuring its financial sustainability in the face of significant budgetary challenges.
