The UAE Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with his South Korean counterpart, Park Jin, recently led the first special strategic dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two nations. This dialogue took place in Seoul, the South Korean capital.

As per the UAE news agency, “The dialogue was an outcome of the official visit made by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, to South Korea in 2019, during which a memorandum of understanding was signed concerning the special strategic dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two nations.”

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed, during the UAE-South Korean special strategic dialogue, that “the UAE and South Korea share deep-rooted and robust relations and an exceptional developmental partnership, which has brought about numerous qualitative achievements for both friendly nations.”

He also indicated that “UAE-South Korean relations, which commenced over 40 years ago, have witnessed various stages of growth, development, and effective collaborative efforts. The signing of the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries in 2018 served as a strong impetus and marked a qualitative shift in the path of this relationship towards broader horizons of cooperation in all fields.”

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also congratulated the South Korean Foreign Minister on his country’s election to the Security Council for the 2024-2025 term. This marks the third time the nation has occupied a non-permanent seat on the Security Council, following 1996-1997 and 2013-2014, lauding its remarkable efforts in preserving international peace and security.
