In a swift response to the recent floods wreaking havoc in the Republic of Seychelles, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has deployed an aircraft laden with 50 tonnes of essential food supplies.
The humanitarian relief effort aims to provide assistance to numerous families grappling with the extensive damage caused by the floods. The coordinated effort involves several humanitarian institutions in the UAE.
Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Development Affairs, affirmed, “Under the directives of our wise leadership, the UAE remains steadfast in its humanitarian commitments, offering continuous support to alleviate the impact of the recent global humanitarian and natural crises.”
The crises, which encompass various natural disasters such as droughts, floods, and earthquakes, prompt the UAE to tailor its humanitarian response to each crisis’s specific needs.
Al Shamsi highlighted the strong and enduring relations between the UAE and Seychelles, emphasizing the UAE’s dedication to fulfilling its humanitarian responsibilities. The UAE takes a leading role in assisting nations grappling with challenging circumstances arising from natural disasters and works toward mitigating the consequences of severe climate change.
