In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, announced a $5 million grant to support the United Nations (UN) humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
Abdullah bin Zayed affirmed the UAE’s keenness to support the UN’s humanitarian operations in the Gaza Strip and to assist Sigrid Kaag, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, in her efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza and to strengthen the urgent humanitarian response to their needs.
On Thursday, Abdullah bin Zayed met with Kaag, who is currently visiting the UAE, to discuss the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza caused by the war. They explored ways to address its repercussions quickly and in a coordinated manner to help alleviate the suffering of civilians and meet their needs.
Abdullah bin Zayed stressed the importance of a ceasefire and ensuring the urgent, intensive, and safe delivery of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip without any obstacles. He also emphasized the need to prevent further loss of life and avoid escalating the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
