UAE Pledges $100 Million to Support Sudan

The United Arab Emirates has pledged $100 million to support humanitarian efforts in Sudan and its neighboring countries.

This commitment comes alongside a renewed call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and the pursuit of a peaceful solution to the crisis, emphasizing the importance of returning to the political process and prioritizing wisdom and reason.

His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, made these remarks during his participation in the International Humanitarian Conference on Sudan in Paris, organized jointly by France, Germany, the European Union, and several other countries and international organizations.

The conference aims to advance peace initiatives in Sudan and strengthen humanitarian and diplomatic efforts to address the challenges faced by the Sudanese people.

In her speech at the conference, Sheikh Shakhbout reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting international efforts for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and finding a peaceful solution to the crisis.

She also reiterated the UAE’s support for the Sudanese people by pledging $100 million to humanitarian efforts in Sudan and its neighboring countries.

The UAE’s contributions and tangible steps to alleviate humanitarian conditions in Sudan and its neighboring countries were highlighted, including $150 million in relief aid for conflict-affected individuals.

Additionally, the UAE opened a fully equipped field hospital in Abéché, Chad, the second such facility built by the UAE to support Sudanese refugees, at a cost of $20 million.

These UAE humanitarian aid efforts in Sudan and its neighboring countries reflect the UAE’s continuous commitment to providing humanitarian and relief support to its Sudanese brothers and sisters.

The UAE places great importance on humanitarian challenges and remains committed to extending a helping hand and providing humanitarian support to those in need.

On the political front, Sheikh Shakhbout reiterated the UAE’s call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and the pursuit of a peaceful solution through a return to the political process.

He emphasized the importance of collective action and joint efforts to end the conflict, enhance Sudan’s security and stability, and meet the aspirations of its people for development and prosperity.
