During an official visit to Gujarat, India, from 9th to 10th January 2024, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a Joint Statement affirming their commitment to reinforce the longstanding and robust strategic partnership between the two countries. President Al Nahyan was the Chief Guest at the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024.

The leaders held constructive talks, highlighting the strength of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and their dedication to further collaboration. This visit marked President Al Nahyan’s fourth to India in the last eight years and his second as the President of the UAE. The leaders commended each other’s global roles in 2023, with India presiding over the G20 and the UAE hosting COP28.

India congratulated the UAE for joining the BRICS group on January 1, 2024, expressing appreciation for the UAE’s commitment to championing multilateralism. Both nations pledged to work closely within BRICS and other international forums to achieve shared objectives.

The leaders reviewed the progress in the India-UAE relationship, formally elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2017. They expressed satisfaction with the growth and expansion of the partnership across various sectors, reflecting the positive trajectory of bilateral ties. The Joint Statement also acknowledged the successful hosting of COP28 by the UAE and India’s ambitious presidency of the G20.

The visit and the Joint Statement underscore the commitment of the UAE and India to mutual cooperation, international collaboration, and the shared pursuit of peace and development.
