UAE & EU Stress Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza & Lebanon

In a recent phone call, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, emphasized the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.

They highlighted the need for full protection of civilians in accordance with international law principles and ensuring the provision of sufficient and safe humanitarian aid to alleviate their suffering.

During their discussion, the leaders addressed several regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly the current developments in the Middle East, as reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Both sides stressed the importance of making every effort to contain regional tensions and prevent the conflict from expanding, which threatens regional security and stability.

They also focused on establishing a horizon for just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region according to the two-state solution.

The conversation also covered various aspects of the relations between the UAE and the European Union and its members, discussing ways to enhance and develop these relationships to benefit both sides mutually.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed his country’s commitment to strengthening strategic relations between the UAE and the European Union and its member states, fostering joint development and supporting Gulf-European collaborative efforts for mutual benefit.

On her part, Ursula von der Leyen expressed appreciation for the UAE’s supportive stances towards regional stability and its humanitarian efforts and initiatives in Gaza and Lebanon.

She commended the productive cooperation between the UAE and the European Union and its institutions across different areas.
