Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, commended the efforts of the Republic of Cyprus in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza through the maritime corridor between Cyprus and Gaza.
The initiative, launched from the port of Larnaca, aims to provide crucial assistance to civilians in the Gaza Strip.
During a meeting in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Abdullah received Dr. Konstantinos Kompos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus. They discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, including the “Amalthea” international maritime corridor initiative, which seeks to deliver aid to northern Gaza.
Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting the maritime corridor initiative and collaborating with Cyprus and other partners to ensure the smooth and sustainable flow of humanitarian aid to civilians in northern Gaza.
The importance of achieving a lasting ceasefire to protect civilians and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people was emphasized during the discussions.
The meeting also touched upon the strong friendship and strategic partnership between the UAE and Cyprus in various fields. Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the UAE’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Cyprus, wishing prosperity and success to the country and its people.
